WHAT IS ADHD?
Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a common neurodevelopmental condition that affects focus, organization, and self-regulation. People with ADHD may experience challenges with attention, staying still, or managing impulses — but they may also bring creativity, energy, and unique problem-solving skills to the table.
ADHD isn’t about laziness or lack of ability. It’s the result of differences in how the brain works. With the right support — including evaluation, treatment, and practical strategies — individuals with ADHD can thrive in school, work, and daily life.
ADHD TESTING
ADHD is not determined using single test. A multi-step process is used to rule out other problems with symptoms that are similar to ADHD.
Providers will also talk to you have you do the following:
- Complete clinical interviews, behavior rating scales, or symptom checklists to determine whether you meet the criteria for a diagnosis of ADHD.
- Report on your mood and current and past medical conditions to rule out alternative diagnoses and establish an overall treatment plan.
