ADHD Testing

ADHD Assessment

What Is ADHD?

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a complex neurodevelopmental condition that affects millions of people worldwide. Despite its prevalence, ADHD is often misunderstood, leading to misconceptions and stigma. It’s not just about being hyper or unable to focus, the symptoms can vary.

ADHD is characterized by persistent patterns of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity that interfere with daily functioning.

While it’s commonly associated with children, ADHD doesn’t disappear with age. Many adults continue to experience symptoms that can impact their work, relationships, and overall quality of life.

The Assessment

ADHD is not determined using single test. A multi-step process is used to rule out other problems with symptoms that are similar to ADHD.

Providers will also talk to you have you do the following:

  • Complete clinical interviews, behavior rating scales, or symptom checklists to determine whether you meet the criteria for a diagnosis of ADHD.
  • Report on your mood and current and past medical conditions to rule out alternative diagnoses and establish an overall treatment plan.
